GABRIELE CAPPELLI
Gabriele Cappelli graduated in Economics (MSc) at the University of Siena and holds a PhD in History and Civilizations from the European University Institute. He is Associate Professor of Economic History at the University of Siena, a CEPR Research Affiliate (EH), and Co-editor of the Industrial History Review. He researches the evolution of regional inequality in the past focusing on schooling and education, in Italy as well as other European countries in the 19th and 20th centuries. More specifically, he aims to understand how policy decisions in the past have shaped institutions and, through them, long-term human and economic development.
Studying the MSc in Economics in Siena (2008-2010) was pivotal to Cappelli's professional growth. Siena's MSc programme in Economics is strongly focused on strengthening math and statistical skills, as well as both theory and econometrics, and revolves around a comprehensive set of topics including (among the others) public economics, growth and development, game theory, behavioral economics, monetary economics, and economic history. Siena's Economics curriculum represents value added for motivated students that want to work in national and international institutions and companies seeking solid information and researching the change and evolution of economic systems and interactions among economic agents.
